Go Plant-Based with these Tofu-rrific Dishes at Home

Want to try and switch from your usual lutong ulam to something tofu-rrific? This versatile and hi-protein ingredient is your key in discovering new plant-based recipes that are not only nutritious and delicious but also affordable.

Aside from the benefit of having lower fat content compared to meat when you try a plant-based diet, the price of the ingredients is also relatively cheaper. As a bonus to its nutritional benefits, a plant-based diet has more fiber content which is beneficial for a healthy gut and lowers the risks in having cardiovascular diseases.

Tofu Giniling

Giniling with tofu? Sarap! Substitute the usual ground pork with tofu for this healthy and affordable version of a classic pinoy favorite.

First, let sauté. In a pan heat oil then mix-in garlic and onion until fragrant. Add tomato paste, potato, and carrots. Continue to sauté until the vegetables have soften for about 3 minutes.

Next, add tofu and water. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes. Aside from being a cheaper protein alternative, tofu is very nutritious. It is a great source of Calcium which keeps our bones strong and healthy.

Now let’s season the dish. Mix in soy sauce, AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning, black pepper, and bell pepper. Mix well and simmer for 1 minute.  AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning will enhance overall taste of this dish for only Php 3.00!

Finally, serve and transfer Tofu Giniling onto a serving plate and enjoy!

Tofu Mushroom Steak with Gravy

There’s no need to go outside and buy your favorite fast food burger steak! Satisfy your cravings by trying this Tofu Mushroom Steak made more delicious with Crispy Fry® Gravy!

In a bowl combine tofu, button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, onion, flour, AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning, salt, and black pepper, mix well.

To make the patties, get 1/3 cup of the tofu mixture and form into a patty shape. You may freeze the patties for at least 5 minutes before frying to hold its shape while it is being cooked.

Then, heat oil in a pan then fry tofu patties until golden brown, remove excess oil using a strainer and set aside. On the same pan, remove excess oil from frying then pour the CRISPY FRY® Gravy & water mixture, continue stirring until the gravy has thickened. CRISPY FRY® Gravy has the perfect blend of spices and seasonings providing that savory deliciousness to this dish.

Fresh Spring Roll with Tofu & Peanut Sauce

You can make a healthy dish in one roll in five easy steps with this Fresh Spring Roll with Tofu & Peanut Sauce.

First, dredge tofu sticks with cornstarch evenly, then heat oil in a pan and fry tofu until golden brown, remove excess oil in a colander.

Next step is to coat the tofu sticks. Using a brush, coat tofu sticks with SARSAYA® Oyster Sauce evenly and set aside. SARSAYA® elevates the deliciousness of the dish perfectly matching the freshness of the vegetables with its delicious savory sweet oyster sauce.

It’s time to wrap our rolls for the third part of the recipe. Submerge rice paper for few seconds in the hot water then lay flat in a plate or chopping board. Pile lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and 1 piece of tofu on the center of the rice paper. Gently fold over once, tuck in edges, and continue rolling until seam is sealed. Repeat this step until all the remaining rice paper and fillings have been used, set aside.

Fourth, in a bowl, combine peanut butter, SARSAYA® Oyster Sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and water. Using a whisk, mix well until the consistency is smooth.

For the fifth and final step, place fresh springs rolls on a serving plate then serve with the peanut sauce. Optional to put lime wedges on the side. Serve & enjoy!
